Much of this Brotherly Love Philadelphia has, has gone into all the restaurant industry within the confines of the Philadelphia area. This is the culinary capital of the United States. No matter what your particular taste in food is, Philadelphia has numerous restaurants catering to a particular food culture and or taste. One such restaurant is the Vegetarian Restaurants located in and around the Greater Philadelphia area.

There are about 110 great vegitarian restaurants in Philadelphia. There are enough wounderful vegararian restaurants to keep one taste testing for at least 30 to 110 days. There is a list available of over 100 vegetarian restaurants in Philadelphia to view and chose from. One should probably start with the first top ten and work down the list. This in no way means that restaurant number 110 is inferior to number one. Sometimes one may save the best for last.

These top ten are: the Zinc Cafe, The Couch Potato Cafe, The Blue Sage, Vegetarian Grille, The Memphis Tap Room, Banana Leaf, The Morning Glory Diner, Cafette, Patterson’s Palace, and The Station Tap Room. The Zinc Cafe is higher priced, but the other nine restaurants listed are more moderate in their menu pricing.

Whoever said you can have too much of a good thing obviously never met Tony Lucidonio Jr. or been to his famous South Philly restaurant simply called Tony Luke’s. There you’ll find everything from the famous cheesesteaks to world famous barbecue and even a breakfast menu that would make most diners shudder. However, if you’re coming to Tony Luke’s, beware of the five-pound, foot-and-a-half monster waiting around the corner.

It’s called the Ultimate Cheesesteak Challenge but many have called it master as they buckle beneath its enormous weight. Made up of 3 pounds of beef, 1 pound of American cheese and all of it topped with a half-pound of fried onions and stuffed into a 20-inch roll, this monstrous meal offers a challenge that’s not for the faint of heart. The challenge: finish it in under an hour and get your picture on the Wall of Fame.

Cheesesteaks are a popular sandwich and they aren’t only limited to the city of Philadelphia. People all over the country enjoy a good cheesesteak and they’ve only become more popular as time goes on. Recently a Man v. Food episode covered the aforementioned sandwich and everyone from Seattle to places with direct tv chapel hill service saw Richman conquer the five-pound beast in under 30 minutes. Still, if you want a good cheesesteak and you want it done right, best to stick with the place where it originated.

If you plan to visit Philadelphia, are Vegan, and fear the only thing you will find to eat is Philly cheese steak, guess again. There are some excellent places to get the best vegan food you’ve ever eaten. Check these out.

Blackbird Pizzeria is a fantastic cheese steak eatery that is completely vegan. Of course the vegan cheese steak is excellent, but for an even better meal try the vegan Cuban sandwich. For dessert, the chocolate chip cheesecake will totally indulge your taste buds.

Nick’s Vegan is another superb vegan establishment to satisfy the appetite. Serving brunch, lunch, dinner and dessert, Nick’s even has outside seating for a relaxed atmosphere. Black bean chili, wraps, and mouth watering mango bars for dessert are just a sample of what Nick’s offers. Nick’s also delivers, and you can purchase vegan cream cheese and strawberry cream cheese that are made from scratch.

A new restaurant, Vedge, is getting quite the reviews. The “dirt list” has fresh veggies of the day, and sunflower stems are just one of the unique items you can order here. The decor is super cozy, with a sunken parlor and fireplace. Vedge has an extensive beer and wine list to please everyone.
